Beyond Redmond

I go by Redmond, or you can simply call me with Red or Matt from my middle name, Matisse. I love discussing ideas, observations, or simply having long conversations that wander wherever they wish to go. By nature, I tend to observe more than I speak, but if you manage to break the ice, you’ll find I’m far more than I first appear. I’m warm once you know me well enough. I show that I care by noticing the little things people often overlook, and very little truly escapes my attention.I’m an INTP, which means I usually prefer thoughtful DMs over timeline interactions, though I enjoy seeing what others are reading, writing, and thinking about. I’m interested in systems, media, politics, and human behavior, especially the patterns that linger beneath headlines, trends, and social chatter.People often describe me in shades of blue. At first glance, I’m the darker kind: quiet, composed, and perhaps a little distant. The sort of blue that feels steady, familiar, and safe to sit beside. But blue is never just one color. There are lighter shades beneath the surface, warmer ones, softer ones. The side of me that laughs too easily, finds amusement in the absurd, and leaves people saying, “You’re not nearly as intimidating as you look.”I’ve always thought people are less like portraits and more like oceans. What can be seen from the shore is only a fraction of what exists beneath. I suppose I’m much the same. Layered, contradictory at times, and always carrying more than what first meets the eye.I’m fairly easy to amuse, too. I find humor in strange ideas, accidental patterns, and the quiet absurdities hidden in everyday life. Sometimes the things that seem the most ordinary reveal the most interesting stories.When it comes to music, I’m not particularly attached to any specific genre. I’ll listen to almost anything as long as it resonates with me since genre matters far less than whether it manages to earn a permanent spot in my playlists.As for films and series, I tend to gravitate toward mysteries, thrillers, slice-of-life stories, and anything related to space. I also have a surprising amount of tolerance for romance, provided it comes in the form of a good rom-com. Think Sherlock Holmes and Interstellar; one satisfies my curiosity about people, the other my curiosity about everything else.
